Quaint little historic town that has artisan shops and places to eat/drink. The old textile mill and furniture shops have unique and high quality goods, but maybe not at everyone's price point. Great for a half day trip.

A beautiful colony to go from shop to shop. We went for 4 hours and we didn't even make a dent in all the shops. A very unique place to eat authentic German foods and to buy one of a kind gifts. We will be returning very shortly.

Arrived in Amana at 10am on a Friday and hardly anything was open. We stopped by the visitors center and asked about the hours and the answer we got was "Most of them should be open now. If they're not, they will be soon. Or they may open later. Or not at all."

Beautiful place!!! Definitely we will come back. I’m very glad that my husband on our way back to Chicago saw the post otherwise maybe we never had come here. The General Store has plenty of little and beautiful things, of course Christmas is every where. The chocolate factory, the ice creams, the restaurants... it was a quick visit. Highly recommended!!!

After spending a good amount of time browsing the General Store (the Christmas area is AWESOME) we came out to find most everything open except the fudge store. (It opened later in the afternoon and I did go in, but wasn't terribly impressed. No one acknowledged my presence even though I was the only customer, so I left.)

We spent the entire afternoon going from store to store and had a wonderful time tasting and shopping. Every other store was very hospitable, glad to see us and eager to answer questions and help. Loved the experience. Will have to go back again!

Such a great, fun little town. I particularly love their meat shop and woodworking store. The meat shop's jerky has amazing flavor and is always very fresh (along with any other meat you buy). At the woodworking store, you can actually watch employees make products in their workshop. I got to witness some authentic cuckoo clocks (imported from the Black Forest in Germany) in action last time I was at the store.
